“Farewell to Stromness” – Orkney Artworks from the collection of Peter Maxwell Davies

Orkney Art from Max's CollectionThe Northlight Gallery in Stromness is hosting an exhibition of art related to Orkney from the collection of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.

Max loved Stromness and spent a great deal of time in the town. His best known piece, after which the exhibition is named, was a protest against proposed uranium mining in its vicinity.

Putting on a show like this in Stromness is our way of thanking the town for the love and support that has been shown in the last weeks and years.

Max collected art all his life and so bought from many local artists. Some of his friends from South who came here also drew inspiration from the island landscapes.

The show features work by Erlend Brown, Kane McKinnon, Andrew Parkinson, Mary Scott and many others. It will run from April 16th to 28th 1-5pm.
