The Voles gather in Edinburgh and also in Orkney and Shetland to watch the Carmichael case.

the army of voles hoping it does not rain
Voles setting out for Edinburgh

Today is a big day. For the first time in 50 years lawyers on behalf of a Scottish politician will be defending his actions during  an election campaign. Mr. Alistair Carmichael could well have his election overturned and we may have a by-election.

Voles think that humans, even politicians, have a duty to tell the truth. Decency must be the benchmarks of all our politics as we think about how we want to live in a new Scotland – whether it is part of the UK or independent.

This court case  is made possible by over 5000 people who have contributed to what has been called the largest fighting fund gathered by constituents against their MP.

Sadly this Vole cannot be in Edinburgh. Great Uncle Cedric is still poorly and needing attention but some of the humans who have been involved will be present and at the public screening in the King Street Halls in Kirkwall.

So Mrs Vole, little Sweyn and even Great Uncle Cedric will be watching the coverage from Independence Live  and STV – I hope lots of you will be there too.

Contributions to the fund can still be made here. Bring politics back to us, the voles and voters.
